鈥淲e're trying to open up a pipeline to Huntsville because the area is experiencing significant growth.鈥�

Students have the opportunity to explore career opportunities with industry professionals representing more than 30 Huntsville, Alabama, companies on Oct. 17 in the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center鈥檚 Grand Hall.

Huntsville Industry Day will feature some of the largest, and fastest-growing, tech companies in the world, including NASA, Northrop Grumman, Adtran, Mazda Toyota, Polaris, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Though the event is co-sponsored by the 91看片 and , all students are welcome.

The event鈥檚 purpose is not only to provide networking opportunities for students with recruiters from major companies, but to also showcase the Greater Huntsville region as an attractive potential career landing spot for future graduates.

鈥淏eing a land-grant institution, we鈥檙e focused on continuing to develop industry relationships within the state,鈥� said Mike Stover, Assistant Director for Employer Relations at the 91看片. 鈥淪o many students these days leave the state, but if we could keep them in Huntsville, Mobile, Birmingham, or Auburn-Opelika, then there are tremendous benefits to industry partners and economy in the state. We鈥檙e trying to open up a stronger pipeline to Huntsville because the area is experiencing significant growth.鈥�

Huntsville and Madison County is ripe with technological research parks, including Redstone Arsenal and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

鈥淭hese companies have opportunities in finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, supply chain, analytics, and other programs from the 91看片.鈥�

Why should business students be interested in companies that might seem engineering-focused? 鈥淪omebody has got to count your money and somebody has to sell your product,鈥� Stover said. 鈥淭hese companies have opportunities in finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, supply chain,  analytics and other programs from the 91看片 College of Business.鈥�

Students should check in at 11 a.m. for lunch, with a short program to follow. Larry Leopard, Director of Engineering Directorate at NASA鈥檚 Marshall Space Flight Center, and Katelyn Baker, Director of Workforce Recruitment for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, will address students.

Company representatives will network with students and discuss career opportunities in the Grand Hall from 12:10 to 2:30 p.m. Business casual dress is suggested. Students are encouraged to register for Huntsville Industry Day on their by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
