The application period for Summer 2026 FBI Honors Internship Program and Collegiate Hiring Initiative is now open! The FBI Honors Internship Program offers an extraordinary opportunity for students to gain insight into the workings of the FBI while contributing to the mission of maintaining national security. This prestigious 10-week paid internship provides behind-the-scenes access to Bureau employees and the chance to work on real-world projects that align with the FBI’s core mission.

        Program Overview:

        • The FBI Honors Internship offers a rich and immersive experience, designed to develop the future leaders of the FBI. Here are the key program highlights:

          • Location: Internships are available at multiple FBI locations, including Washington, D.C., Quantico, VA, and various other FBI offices across the nation.
          • Duration: A 10-week paid internship over the summer, giving students a comprehensive view of the FBI’s inner workings.
          • Access to Experts: Interns will have the unique chance to work closely with senior FBI leaders and executives across different divisions.
          • Work-Life Balance: The FBI emphasizes work-life balance, and interns will benefit from wellness initiatives.
          • Networking Opportunities: Interns will build connections with mentors, colleagues, and peers, both during and after the program. This network will be invaluable for career growth, whether inside or outside of the FBI.
          • Permanent Positions: Outstanding interns may be offered permanent or part-time roles at any of the FBI’s 56 field offices after completing the internship.

        General Requirements:

To apply for the Honors Internship Program, applicants must:

        • Be a U.S. citizen.
        • Attend a college or university full time as an undergraduate (freshman, sophomore, junior or senior), graduate or post-doctoral student. Students are not eligible if they will graduate before the program start date; exceptions are permitted to students continuing their education in the semester immediately following.
        • Have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better at the time of application, throughout the application process and for the duration of the internship program.
        • A first-semester freshman or student attending a school that does not provide a GPA will need to meet alternate criteria. Instead of a 3.0 GPA or higher, the applicant must have maintained at least a 3.0 high school GPA and have scored a 1500 out of 2400 on the SAT (1000 out of 1600 on new SATs) or scored a 21 or higher on the ACT.
        • Must be able to pass a Top Secret security clearance process, including a background check and drug screening.
        • Applicants should be ready to fully commit to the 10-week program.

        Location Choices

Intern assignments are based on the current skills needed in the FBI. As part of the application, candidates are asked to pick their top six desired Field Office and Headquarters locations; these are then taken into account during the selection process. Headquarters selections include the FBI’s main Headquarters in Washington, D.C., as well as Quantico, VA.
